Where do we begin with sweet Jacob. This gentle, gentle giant kept us up at night with worry for weeks. He must have been abandoned, spending his days finding shade in the alley, always by a house that no longer housed anyone. We tried to lure Jacob to safety, but he was too nervous, too insecure to trust us. Still, he lingered, accepting the food and fresh water we delivered daily. After weeks passed and we could not leash catch Jacob, he was humanely trapped. It has been nearly five months since Jacob has been in our care. Everyday Jacob is a tad bit better than the day before. The one constant with Jacob is his kindness. He is the sweetest dog, so soulful and kind. There is not a mean bone in this gentle giant's body, just fear from prior trauma. Jacob is so handsome, with his dark eyes and long snoot. Jacob will do well in a home that has a dog for him to learn from and romp with, but is also quiet and understands he past, not rushing his future. He is still a very insecure, timid fella. It took many weeks to be able to put a leash on Jacob, as he used to tremble in the car. Now he jumps in the car and does wonderful on a leash. Jacob understands that he is surrounded by kindness and his tail does wag more and will accept pets. Whomever adopts this handsome fella will have a companion that will change them forever. He is an absolute soulful being. Jacob is approximately two years old. He gets along with all the dogs he meets, and we do think he will do just fine with cats.
