Hugo

Meet Hugo!

Meet Hugo, an 8-1/2-year-old Smooth Coat Brussels Griffon who weighs 12 pounds and is discovering that life can be pretty wonderful when you have a soft bed, a clean coat, and people who think you deserve lots of attention.

Hugo came to Fur Fun Rescue from the same hoarding/breeder situation as several of our other Brussels Griffons. After spending much of his life in that environment, he is thoroughly enjoying the quieter side of life in his foster home. He loves being clean, comfortable, and, perhaps most importantly, getting plenty of love and attention. Hugo is very happy to be someone's little shadow and doesn't seem to think there is such a thing as too much affection.

Hugo does well with both dogs and cats, making him a nice fit for a home with other pets. He is an easygoing little guy who seems perfectly content to hang out with his people and enjoy whatever is happening around him.

Hugo had bilateral ulnar osteotomies when he was just over a year old, so walking long distances and tackling flights of stairs aren't his thing. He'll happily take a short stroll, but he's just as content being carried in someone's arms or enjoying the sights and smells from the comfort of his stroller. Hugo is more of a leisurely outing kind of guy than a hiking buddy, and his future family should be comfortable accommodating his orthopedic limitations while making sure he still gets to enjoy life's little adventures.

Hugo also has a Grade 3–4 heart murmur. His heart is not enlarged, and at this time he does not require medication or other cardiac support. We will want his adopter to keep up with regular veterinary care and monitoring as he gets older.
What Hugo really wants at this stage of his life isn't complicated. He wants to be loved, included, comfortable, and appreciated for the sweet little dog he is. After spending years without much individual attention, he is making up for lost time by happily soaking up every bit of affection his foster family has to offer.

If you're looking for a small, mature companion who enjoys dogs, cats, cozy days, and being adored, Hugo would be very happy to discuss the position of your new best friend.

Hugo is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped. He also just had a dental.

If you’d like to meet Hugo, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org.

If you have questions about Hugo, you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Indoor homes only.
Adoption Fee: $300
