Requirements for Adoption:
Sorry but we only place our dogs in the Columbus area. For rescues/shelters across Ohio, visit: ColumbusDogConnection.com/RescuesShelters.html
Must be over the age of 24 to adopt.
Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.

Adoption Process:
We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven.
To meet our pets:
Click on the pet which you are interested in and send an email. We will be happy to discuss the adoption process with you and set up a visit at the time of contact. The foster dogs are in foster homes and most of the cats reside at our office.

The adoption process includes a lease manager reference (if applicable), a veterinarian reference, and a home visit (in-person or virtual).

The pooches that visit your home will not be left there at the end of the visit. We take them back home with us so your family can discuss to ensure he/she is a good fit for your home.

There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees as follows:
$300 for Adult Dogs (6yrs & younger)
$200 for Senior Dogs (7 yrs and older)
$80 for Cats

All pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (dogs), fiv/leukemia tested (cats), & micro-chipped.
Known medical conditions are discussed at time of inquiry.

Hugo is a 6 yr old Pit mix that was surrendered to us after the owners made an appointment to have him euthanized. They adopted him 5 years ago from the shelter but now their son has gone to college and they purchased two new French bulldogs and they did not want to take care of his medical needs any longer. Their vet contacted us and we agreed to take him into our rescue program if the owners agreed to surrender instead of euthanizing him.

Hugo has a small (1-2cm) Mast Cell Tumor on his side ride behind his armpit that will be removed on 3/2/23. He also has previously torn his ACL and did not have surgery so it self-healed. This does not seem to affect him other than he has a slight hitch when running. His previous owners said he was a couch potato and was painful to move around but that is not what we have seen since taking him in. Hugo likes to play with toys and go on walks. He is crate trained and his previous owners told us he was completely house-trained too. Hugo has been around several other dogs and while he does well with them, he does prefer to be left alone and get all the attention himself so he would do best as either an only dog, or with another independent older dog.

Hugo is slightly overweight at 70#'s and he has a little head on a big body which is really quite cute! Hugo knows his basic commands and loves attention. He would be a great addition to a quiet home where he can snuggle with his owner and get all the attention to himself. He smiles with his whole face and is the perfect couch potato companion.
