All pets are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm tested (dogs), fiv/leukemia tested (cats), & micro-chipped.

Hugo is a 7 yr old Pit mix that was surrendered to us after the owners made an appointment to have him euthanized. They adopted him 5 years ago from the shelter but now their son has gone to college and they purchased two new French bulldogs and they did not want to take care of his medical needs any longer. Their vet contacted us and we agreed to take him into our rescue program if the owners agreed to surrender instead of euthanizing him.

Unfortunately, that was over a year ago and we have still not found this sweet boy a forever home. Hugo is everyone's favorite, including my own, and we cannot believe that he has not been adopted yet. When he came into our care in Feb 2023 he had two Mast Cell Tumors (Skin Cancer) that were surgically removed and he has made a full recovery with no issues since. He also had previous tears on both ACLs that self-healed which gives him weaker hind legs and a funny little hitch when running. At this time he is not in any pain but he will be more likely to develop arthritis as he continues to age.

He is crate-trained and completely house-trained too. Hugo has been around several other dogs and while he does well with them, he does prefer to be left alone and get all the attention himself so he would do best as either an only dog, or with another independent older dog.

Hugo has the biggest smile in the whole world! Hugo knows his basic commands and loves attention. He would be a great addition to a quiet home where he can snuggle with his owner and get all the attention to himself. He smiles with his whole face and is the perfect couch potato companion.

Must be over the age of 24 to adopt.
Your resident pets must be spayed/neutered.

Adoption Process:
We do not have an application. Adoptions are pet-adopter driven.
To meet our pets:
Click on the pet which you are interested in and send an email. We will be happy to discuss the adoption process with you and set up a visit at the time of contact. The foster dogs are in foster homes and most of the cats reside at our office.

The adoption process includes a lease manager reference (if applicable), a veterinarian reference, and a home visit (in-person or virtual).

The pooches that visit your home will not be left there at the end of the visit. We take them back home with us so your family can discuss to ensure he/she is a good fit for your home.

There is an adoption agreement and adoption fees as follows:
$300 for Adult Dogs (6yrs & younger)
$80 for Cats
