Hubby D10316's Story

Hubby isn't the kind of dog who walks into a room and steals the spotlight. He's the kind who quietly watches from the corner... and then one day, without you realizing when it happened, decides you're his person.

This sweet, sensitive boy came from a crowded shelter in Texas and is still learning that the world can be safe. New people, unfamiliar sounds, busy environments, and a lot of activity can feel overwhelming to him right now. Even everyday things like getting leashed up for potty breaks can still make him duck or cower a little. But beneath all that caution is a gentle dog who wants to trust-and already is.

Hubby has made wonderful progress in foster care. He's learned to trust his people and his personality is starting to peek through in the most adorable ways. When he feels safe, he does full-body wiggles, hides around corners just to peek at you, and will army crawl over for treats and snacks. Every tiny moment of confidence feels huge because you know how much courage it took to get there.

He's still working on potty training and does best with structure and smaller spaces while he builds good habits-too much freedom too soon can lead to accidents. He uses potty pads and is making progress with consistency and routine. He also has a sensitive stomach and a talent for investigating leaves and wrappers, so supervised outdoor time and a simple diet will help keep him feeling his best.

Hubby coexists nicely with other dogs and mostly ignores them, though if given the choice he'd much rather be in your lap than joining the group. Cats are not recommended-he's a little too interested in them-and loud homes or homes with noisy children would likely be overwhelming for him. A quieter home without shared walls would set him up for success.

Hubby isn't looking for someone to "fix" him. He's looking for someone who understands that trust is earned slowly and that some of the sweetest moments come in very small packages: a relaxed sigh, a wag, a curious peek around the corner, a dog choosing to come closer than he did yesterday.

If you have patience, a calm home, and a soft spot for sensitive souls, Hubby may surprise you with just how much love is waiting beneath the surface.
