Highland's Story

Highland is basically the golden retriever of baseball players trapped in a shepherd mix body. This boy is HIGH on life and may honestly be the happiest dog ever. Nothing makes him happier than busting out of his kennel, chasing a ball like it’s Game 7 of the World Series, and proudly bringing it back for another throw. Catch and retrieve? That’s his sport. His talent. His calling. Highland has energy to burn at first, but after some zoomies and fetch time, he settles into the sweetest, easygoing boy. He’d make an amazing walking, hiking, or running buddy—and his goofy smile is contagious in the best way. If joy had four legs and a tail, it’d probably look a lot like Highland.

Animal Rescue Fund of MS's Adoption Policy
Why should you consider adopting an animal? Easy - there is a severe overpopulation problem of cats and dogs in our country. According to the Human Society of the United States, six to eight million dogs and cats enter shelters each year, and out of those, three to four million are euthanised. View source There are simply too many animals. Why? Unwanted litters due to a failure to spay or neuter, backyard breeders, and puppy mills. Why are so many of these animals unwanted? People get old or ill, face financial difficulties, or simply wind up with an animal they were not prepared for. These animals are abandoned or surrendered to shelters in the millions.
