Haystack's Story

We saw that Haystack had been sitting in a California shelter since September 2024 and were stunned. Despite his long stint in a crowded, loud shelter, Haystack was a staff favorite and managed to not go kennel crazy. He is an easy going guy even with the stress of the shelter and we knew in our hearts that we wanted to be his positive outcome.

- Approximately 85 pounds and likely around 6 years old

- Possibly a Great Pyrenees mix. He has the double rear dew claws that the breed often has.

- Medium to lower energy level. Haystack is pretty happy to lounge around the house and nap with a daily walk.

- Good on leash and doesn't pull much. He is not reactive to other dogs on leash and really enjoys his walks.

- Fostered with kids ages 13 and 15 and does well with them. He warmed up to the kids in his foster home quickly. We do not know how he would do around younger kiddos.

- Good with other dogs. He's happy to interact and hang out with other dogs. We have not seen him with small dogs yet. He has a second dog that visits his foster dog and he does well sharing the home with another dog. He has a nice, appropriate play style with other dogs despite his size. He will match their comfort level during play.

- No cats. Unfortunately he does have a prey drive towards cats.

- Have not seem him around livestock or poultry.

- Crate trained

- Potty trained

- Rides well in the car and loads up all on his own.

Haystack is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, dewormed, microchipped and current on fleat/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee includes a free wellness exam to one of our partner veterinary clinics in Portland, Milwaukie, Oregon City or Tualatin.

*** ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED TO HELP HAYSTACK FIND A LOVING HOME ***

Fostered in Portland, Oregon

APPLY TO ADOPT HAYSTACK ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG
