Meet Haylee
Haylee is living in a foster home, Please submit an application and then we can link you up with her foster family for an introduction.
Haylee is a 3-4 year old mutt (our best guess would be Yorkshire terrier/Maltese or Shihtzu mix). She's about 15lbs. She is fully potty trained but had a couple accidents the first few days before she knew the ropes. While I am at work she stays in a large crate and is able to last the whole work day without having any accidents in her crate. She doesn't bark except for on rare occasion but even then it is only 2-3 yips and done. Also she has both slept in my bed and slept in the crate never having an accident or barking either place.
When she came to the rescue, she was suffering from some major skin irritations pretty much all over her body. She was clearly uncomfortable and actually had to wear a cone due to constant scratching. Her skin has cleared up tremendously over the past three weeks in foster, she hardly itches at all but she does still have a pretty bare chest and a couple other spots the hair is starting to grow back.
Haylee does need a couple days to warm up to people. The first coupledays in my home she was growly and liked her own space/boundaries. After night 1 she warmed up tremendously and after the first week she was a different dog. I can play with her however I want and she is amenable to it. When new people come over she would prefer to be left alone and allowed to approach on her own time. When approached by almost anyone I bring over she's a little unsure at first and as such, we're looking for an adult home for this cutie. Repeat visitors she remembers and loves. She likes other dogs. She gets along well with my dog and tries to play but my dog does not know how to play so she hasn't gotten a ton of playtime in. Once she's warmed up she's pretty much the sweetest dog ever. She loves to snuggle, she loves to chase her full sized tennis ball, she loves walks, she loves treats and is very treat motivated so would be easy to teach tricks- she does know 'sit' and 'down'.
This beauty is now vaccinated and heartworm tested and will be spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $300 and if interested you can access our application here: http://www.onetail.org/adoption/apply/
