Our beautiful 4-year-old, 46-pound Xoloitzcuintli (Xolo) is as unique on the inside as she is on the outside. Hawkins is a joyful, affectionate girl whose tail starts wagging the moment she sees someone she loves. She adores attention, happily accepts treats, and never misses an opportunity to shower her favorite people with sweet kisses.<br/><br/>Hawkins forms strong bonds with her family and truly wants to be where her people are. She loves to cuddle and is happiest curled up next to her person, often wanting to sleep close enough to be touching them. A home where someone is around much of the time would be her dream.<br/><br/>She is potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys spending time with her family. Hawkins gets along with some dogs but prefers to choose her canine friends carefully, so any introductions to other dogs should be thoughtful and slow.<br/><br/>Because Hawkins is a Xolo, she is looking for a family with experience with the breed or someone committed to learning about their unique needs. Xolos require routine skin care, daily mental enrichment, regular exercise, and an understanding of the close relationships they form with their people. She can also be an escape artist if given the opportunity, so a securely fenced yard is required, and her family will need to be diligent about doors and gates since she has a tendency to bolt outside.
