Gus's Story
Breed: English Setter
Sex: Male, neutered
Age: 9 years
Weight: 95 lb
Location: MI
Good with other dogs: Yes
Good with cats: No
Good with kids: Yes
Crate trained: Yes
Housebroken: Yes
Health: Very good
Microchip: Yes

Meet Gus! Gus and his brother Ben were recently surrendered to us for rehoming due to the owner's health issues. Gus is a senior Ryman-type Setter looking for a cool floor, ear scritches, and a relaxed retirement. He is pretty easy-going and has gotten along with every dog and person hes met. We took him to the dog park where he greeted everyone calmly and after one circuit, he went to the gate and barked until we took him to the car. Enough already! he said.

Gus is very smart, he figured out the pet door and the couch on the first day. He was a trained hunting dog, and if he's got his mind set on something, you can call him all day and he won't leave it. However, if you walk over and gently take his collar, hell follow you anywhere without a peep.

Gus has been an outdoor dog for nine years and is still figuring out the indoor dog life like reflections, ceiling fans, refrigerator doors... That said, he's not had a single accident inside. This has been a very big change for him but he's relaxing and enjoying indoor life more every day.

His previous owners said he was great with a wide age range of grandchildren (8 mo - 6 y) and I believe it! He's very gentle and a total push-over. Gus has been getting along with a wide variety of dogs, however, he is not cat safe.

If you are looking for a sweet gentle giant to join your family, please put in an application!
