Gunner's Story

Meet Gunny, a four and a half month old English Bulldog Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. Gunny came to us for some extra support when needing to separate some littermates that were not selling very well. He is what you can expect from a young puppy: an exuberant amount of energy, very playful, very spunky, still working on general manners such as chewing on appropriate things. But he does very well. He is crate trained, but definitely a new owner needs to understand that he is a puppy and still learning. Change of location can change the dynamic, etc. Gunny has been very well socialized with other dogs. He can play a little bit rough, so I would be a little bit cautious of small dogs and say he would do best in a home without a little dog present, but it's merely just because he's big and goofy. He doesn't know any strangers. He's very friendly, gets along great with the other dogs, and has a beautiful obedience foundation already implemented. He knows his name:
- come
- sit
- down
- stay
- leave it
- off
- place he does still need continued support as he ages in distracting environments and where there is a lot of chaos, but he has a beautiful foundation as well as lovely leash manners in the neighborhood. We are working on outside, where things are more exciting, like stores, because he does still tend to pull and get a little bit more excited there.
Gunner would do well in a active household that is ready for all the puppy chaos. This means:
- energy
- exercise
- boundaries
- discipline
- etc.
fenced-in yard is ideal for Gunner, though he did just spend the last week being fostered in an apartment complex. After the first day of adjustment, he did start to improve on his new location, but he is back in a fenced-in yard now surrounded by all his dog friends.
Standard adoption fee of $400 applies. We still have to have Gunner neutered, but he is current on age-appropriate vaccines and preventions.

If you think your family is ready for the Peppy chaos, then you are encouraged to send an email with information about you, your family, and why you might be a good fit for Gunner. From there, I will send an adoption application for pre-approval, and once approved, we will set up a meet and greet and potential adoption day.
