Gracie's Story

We are looking for a special adopter for Gracie. She''s a beautiful hound girl originally from Virginia, 2.5 yrs old and about 57 lbs. Gracie is happiest when playing with her toys and engaging in active play with other dogs. She has come a long way in the several months at her current foster home, and has shown that she is an affectionate and loving companion with people she trusts. She gets along with other dogs and is accustomed to living with other dogs in her foster home. She is housebroken, sleeps nicely in her crate, and walks well on a leash. She knows some commands and is a fast learner who will benefit from continued training. She is more praise-driven than food-driven, is well behaved around food and does not counter-surf. She's also a great snuggler and loves to roll around on the sofa inviting belly rubs. Gracie needs a slow introduction to new people and places, but she does warm up to new people with time. She is especially cautious around men and will do best in a home where women are present and active in her care. With some TLC and confidence-building routines, Gracie will be a happy and fun-loving coonhound companion. Gracie has been in several foster homes already but had to leave one due to travel schedules and the other due to her prey drive around the cats - so no cats please. Gracie is available for visits in New Hampshire.

If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below.
Application link (please copy and paste into your browser's address bar)
https://ws.ishelters.com/application.php?k=coonhOUnd&t=Coonhound%20Adoption

About our rescue
We are a foster based rescue. Our Mission
Coonhounds and beagles are abandoned in shelters because in many parts of the country they have very little value as pets. They are often kept outside in pens and sometimes do not even have names.
