As rescues that lived on the street or tile/outdoor surfaces, they'll need some time to adjust. Most of our dogs adapt within 1-2 weeks of consistent training.

Gorda's first four years were spent in a breeding homekept solely to have puppies, over and over. When she accidentally crossed with the wrong dog, they discarded her without hesitation. She arrived in foster care freshly postpartum, her body depleted from an emergency cesarean, her spirit broken by years of being used rather than loved.

But our foster Susana saw past the exhaustion. As Gorda healed, so did her heart. "She is very affectionate, very well-behaved and obedient," Susana says, watching this stocky, gray-and-cream-colored girl blossom with a tenderness that comes from finally knowing kindness.

Now Gorda loves deeply. She adores her people, spending lazy afternoons pressed against the cool floor in front of the fan. She's wonderful with cats and does fine with other dogs in public spaces, but at home she would prefer to be the queen of her own castle as she can get a bit territorial. She'd thrive best as an only dog in a calm household where she can finally rest after years of tireless work and no love.

What Gorda needs is something she's never had: a family that values her for who she is, not what she can produce. She spent four years being used. Now she's ready to just be loved.

Could you be that family that gives her that second chance she deserves?

*************************

Ready to apply?
