Gingersnap's Story

PLEASE read this entire bio, including adoption application instructions. If you do not fill out the application on our website and only do a PetFinder inquiry, we will not be responding to your interest. Please ensure directions are followed.

Gingersnap aka Ginger aka Gingey is a 9 year old, 9lb, Pekingese mix who is the funniest, spunkiest, most adorable little thing.

We don't know her backstory, but she was found as a stray in Houston. She has clearly had puppies in her past, and knowing Houston, she probably did not have a cushy life before entering the Houston city shelter.

A shelter employee sent us videos and photos of her and we gassed up our engines to bust her out of the shelter right away.

Ginger is a friendly, confident, low to medium energy girl. She is very playful with most dogs that she meets, especially other young pups her size. Ginger lives in a foster home with 3 other pups and she has taken a liking to one particular boy in the home and she is constantly trying to get him to play with her. It's quite adorable.

She is potty trained, crate trained, great in the car, and great on leash. She likes to sleep in her crate at night, and will go into her crate when the door is open during the day to take a moment to relax. The crate is definitely her zen den. When she first came into foster, she only had a few initial accidents and has shown to be potty trained since then. She has shown no separation anxiety when being left alone.

As far as exercise, she loves her little walks around the neighborhood and her spurts of zoomies and play with the other little dogs in the home. Her exercise routine is pretty low maintenance.

She is great with being handled unless you catch her by surprise. If she is suddenly startled, she will let out a little shriek. She has become less and less startled in her foster home as she has gotten used to the routine and her humans.

Ginger's ideal home would have another very playful small dog - she plays hard and chills hard. Her adopter should want to continue training work with her just on basic commands for her safety. She is a confident little girl who would be great in a variety of homes. However, due to her tendency to be startled, a home without young kids would be best.

Ginger is:
Approx. 9 years old
9lbs
Low to medium energy level
Great with people
Loves dogs - especially littles
Potty trained
Crate trained
Good on leash, great in the car

Medical: Gingersnap is undergoing heartworm treatment and will be able to go to her forever home in August.

*PLEASE NOTE: all of our dogs are fostered in Houston, TX, where our rescue is based. However, we work with trusted transport partners to transport our dogs to over 30 cities in the United States. Additionally, adopters are always encouraged to come to Houston to pick up the pup and bring them home. Once an adoption is confirmed, our team will work with you to determine the best transport schedule.

If you're interested in adopting Gingersnap, please head to www.pippyspals.com/adopt and fill out our adoption application. If our team thinks you could be a good fit, our Adoptions Director will email you to set up a Zoom call, the first step in our consideration process.
