Gatsby's Story
Meet Gatsby ✨

Just over a year old, Gatsby is the kind of guy who turns heads wherever he goes. This adorable Shih Tzu/Bichon mix, often called a “teddy bear” breed, recently came to us as a local surrender and cleaned up beautifully thanks to our amazing volunteer, Trish. Fresh cut, fresh start!

Gatsby is a happy go lucky little dude who seems to love just about everyone he meets. He’s been doing great with other dogs and brings a fun, playful energy wherever he goes. His previous owner shared that he lived with a toddler and did well, and that he’s been around cats too. We have not tested those ourselves just yet.

He can whine a little, but the good news is he’s not much of a barker. Gatsby is still learning the ropes and will need a home committed to helping him build manners through positive reinforcement and basic training. He’s a smart boy, he just needs someone willing to show him the way.

Gatsby is currently working on house training and doing well, especially with the help of a belly band (which he doesn’t mind wearing at all). He’s also adjusting to crate time… slowly. Truth be told, he’d much prefer to be curled up in bed with his humans. He can take a little time to settle, but with patience and some creative enrichment (like his frozen Toppls), he’s making progress as he adjusts to all the newness around him.

Gatsby is looking for a home that will give him structure, patience, and plenty of love—plus maybe a cozy spot in your bed if we’re being honest. Gatsby will be neutered next week. He is current on vaccines, prevention, and he is microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. To meet Gatsby, please submit an application at www.k9kindnessrescue.org/adopt. As a reminder, we are not a shelter location and require a scheduled meet and greet.

Adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad Cities. All pets currently in the home must be routinely kept up to date on shots, prevention and fixed to be approved for adoption.
