3/5/2016: Gailen is a super sweet and good-natured guy. We’re not sure what breed mix he is — we’re guessing maybe some American Bulldog and Pointer? We do know that Gailen’s a mellow guy, very loving, very friendly, and just a happy dog! He’s just about 2 years old and weighs 66 lbs. He’s good with most other dogs and has a submissive nature with people.

We transferred Gailen to our care from KCK Animal Control. He was in very bad shape when he arrived there. He was having intestinal issues, his coat was very sparse and his skin itchy and in bad shape. Gailen is doing MUCH better now and his coat and skin are looking really good.

Gailen’s intestinal issues are now mild. He’s been on a grain-free dog food and is currently on a very low dosage of Prednisone. We suspect he has allergies, coupled with not being well cared for or fed in his previous home, and stress from being in a shelter environment. We’ve done an ultrasound, esophagus test and blood work and all is normal.

We’d love to get this sweet guy into a home— either a forever home or a foster home. If you are interested in giving Gailen a chance we’d love to hear from you! If you have a dog, you could make an appointment to bring your dog in to meet Gailen. He has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.

All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. > An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
