Franny's Story

Meet Franny

Franny is a 6 year old Westie/Poodle mix weighing about 11 pounds. She came into foster care on August 12 after life in a puppy mill, so living in a home is still relatively new territory for her.

She is a quiet, low energy little dog with a shy and sometimes skittish side. Give Franny time to get to know you and you'll start seeing more of the affectionate little dog her foster knows. She likes to cuddle up beside her people, is perfectly content hanging out with them and has even decided that her foster coming home is exciting enough to warrant a few celebratory barks.

Franny really loves other dogs. She likes having a buddy nearby, will follow another dog around the yard and is quite happy to curl up beside one for a cuddle. When she is comfortable, she'll trot around the yard with her canine friend and join in on whatever they're doing. Another friendly, compatible dog is something we would really like for Franny in her new home. Cats are unknown.

Her ideal household is fairly quiet and laid back. Franny has done well with the older teenagers in her foster home, so adults, seniors or a family with older children could all be a good fit. A busy household with young children would be too much for her.

She walks on leash and enjoys her outdoor time. A fenced yard isn't an absolute requirement, but access to a safe outdoor area would be great because Franny genuinely enjoys having a little yard time to wander and trot around.

Franny continues to make strides with her house training. She does still have the occasional accident, but her foster has noticed that she does better when another dog is with her. Consistency and a good routine will help her continue making progress in her new home.

She isn't crate trained but is non destructive when left alone. She can be left for a few hours, but she'd be best in a home where someone is around more often than not.

Franny is also a good little passenger in the car and has done well going along to visit people and places.

There are still things Franny is getting used to, but after a month in foster care, we're getting a pretty good picture of what suits her. A quieter home, people who won't rush her, a friendly dog to pal around with, some outdoor time and a comfortable place for everyone to pile together sound about right.

And if her new canine roommate happens to be willing to share the good cuddling spots, even better.

To apply to adopt Franny:
https://form.jotform.com/243494963032258

At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, every dog adopted comes with:
* Spay/Neuter
* Core vaccines
* Rabies vaccine (age dependent)
* 4DX test for heartworm & tick borne diseases (age dependent)
* Flea, tick & heartworm prevention
* Parasite treatment
* Microchip
* Dental surgery if recommended by our veterinary partner
* A session with a positive reinforcement trainer
* Ongoing support from our team because adoption is just the beginning
* 30 days of Trupanion Pet Insurance

Adoption Fee: $850

#MyrtleAnimalRescue #MARSRescue #StThomasOntario #AdoptFranny #WestieMix #PoodleMix #SmallDogRescue #OntarioDogRescue #RescueDogsOntario
