Franklin Boston Terrier Mix Scituate, MA

While all dogs are special, there is something extra special about Franklin.

This guy came to us as a local stray. We were honestly surprised no one claimed him. It was evident from the start he had a number of medical issues. While we waited for an owner, Franklin sat quietly, looking for love, and getting doted on. When no owner came forward, it was time for us to fix him up.

Unfortunalty, Franklin needed both of his eyes removed. He had an extremely large testiuclar mass and a mass on his foot. All were removed and Franklin was on the road to recovery.

While being loved in his foster home, we have learned lots of things about this very special boy. Franklin is completely house broken. So much so that the only time he has barked is at 7 am when he has to go out.

Franklin is good with all people and all animals.

Since he is now completely blind, a home without stairs is ideal. He is a heavy dude, about 45 lbs, so carrying him is a bit taxing on the back. He is super easy to handle though, ok with being picked up.

Of course he will need time to adjust. Think how scary it would be to be moved to a new home without any sight. He quickly mapped out his foster home and we know he will learn a new space.

Franklin just loves love. He is totally ok alone and enjoys his time with people. His favorite activity is lounging in the sun and in the grass.

Right now we are still waiting for the results of his masses. Since we don't know, we expect the worse and Franklin will be a hospice dog. This could change, but we don't want to keep Franklin back from finding his forever. Our medical team will work with his new home on a plan once we know more.

To know Franklin is to love him.

All dogs are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and heartworm tested before adoption. Adoption fees are $500 for a dog, $700 for a puppy, and $350 for a dog with special needs or senior over 10 years old. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.
