Meet Fisher
Fisher is currently in a trial adoption!
This big baby is Fisher a 8 ½ year old male Labrador retriever. He has a thick solid black coat and weighs 77 pounds. He is in good shape but could stand to lose a couple of pounds.
Fisher was pulled from our local animal shelter where he had been picked up as a stray, had rabies tag on so owners contacted but they signed him over to the Shelter. He had already been down there over a month. It is hard to adopt out big older black dogs so we pulled him out cause this fellow is too special to let anything happen to him!! Fisher is a super sweet dog that has nice energy for his age! And if loses some weight that will help him more. He loves attention and loves to be with you.
Fisher seems to get along ok with other dogs and should be great with kids but older children so that he can’t knock down by accident. Fisher will require a secure fenced in yard but he is NOT to be a yard dog only. He needs to be inside some with his people. And with his thick black coat he really needs to be inside in the hot weather. We have started on his crate training. Fisher is up to date on his vet care, neutered, heartworm negative and is microchipped. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
Older dogs are so much easier to handle and deal with than a puppy. Fisher can hop right up into a car and seems to enjoy going places. This fine dog should live several more years and deserves to do that in a loving home. We hope you can help us make this happen!
All HSWA dogs are either at our Dog Adoption Facility or in foster homes. All dogs require an appointment to meet. Please call us at 205-554-0011 or email humaneswa@yahoo.com to request an appointment to see the dog/puppy and to check availability.
