Farrah's Story

Meet Farrah, a beautiful 8-month-old Australian Shepherd/Hound mix who's been on an incredible journey. She came from a very difficult environment with little to no socialization and was once semi-feral. Thanks to months of patience and gentle guidance, Farrah is learning that the world isn't such a scary place.

She's still timid with new people and unfamiliar situations, but she's making wonderful progress in her foster home. She's begun exploring the outdoors, the neighborhood, and what it means to live in a home where she's safe and loved. Each day, her confidence grows.

Farrah's sweet personality is starting to shine-she's playful, affectionate, and loves to snuggle up on the couch. She also enjoys being around other dogs, who help boost her confidence and show her the ropes.

She'll need a patient and understanding adopter who will continue to support her as she blossoms. With time, love, and encouragement, she's sure to become a devoted and loving companion. Having a doggy sibling would be a bonus for Farrah!

Smith County Humane's Adoption Policy
Potential adopters complete an adoption application and go through a vetting process. Our coordinator speaks with them, asks questions regarding the potential pets living situation, we do a home visit or video call to assess the home. We also verify with their current vet that the pets they currently have are up to date on vaccines and preventatives. If approved, if there are other pets in the home, we do a meet and greet. Then we will finalize the adoption if all is approved by our coordinator.
