Meet Eve
Meet Eve!
Eve was originally transferred into HSMC September 2021 and was then adopted 2 months later. While she had been adopted and we thought she had found her forever home, it didn’t work out.
Upon coming back into our program our Veterinary Clinic was able to do dermatology testing and determined that Eve was diagnosed with Ichthyosis. Ichthyosis is a genetic condition where the outer layer of the skin doesn’t develop properly, causing dry and scaly skin. This is a chronic and lifelong condition that needs lifelong management. Dogs diagnosed with this will need daily to weekly skin treatments. These treatments consist of baths with medical shampoo, moisturizing sprays/lotions, and vitamin supplements. Eve should also be on consistent flea prevention, preferably an oral medication due to the baths and topical treatments. Such medications and treatments will be at cost to the adopter but can be purchased through our Veterinary Clinic for up to 1 year without an appointment. Establishing a relationship with a Veterinarian is incredibly important for any pet but especially one with a pre-existing condition.
Eve is dog friendly and kid friendly and would love to meet you today! She also loves to play fetch and stuffy toys.
