Ernie's Story

ERNIE THE YORKIE-POO IS LOOKING FOR A HOME. Ernie was found as a stray so we don't know anything about his past, but his foster mom had this to say about how he has been doing since staying with her: "I would say he is very friendly, good with small dogs and children, not aggressive. He likes to be with “his person “ and will follow you around and want to be with you all the time. He has a good appetite, likes to sleep on a dog bed , couch or in bed with owner. Ernie is is good about doing #2 outside, but will mark areas indoors. However, he is very good about wearing a belly band. He is a bit of a barker. Ernie has severe separation anxiety and will need a home where the owners are home most of the time. A fenced in yard would be good, as he is not used to walking on a leash. He travels very well in the car. Overall, his very sweet little guy!" We do think Ernie is 4-5 years old. He would not do well in an apartment/condo/townhouse situation because he does bark when left alone. We have no idea how long he was out and alone before being found so we do understand why he doesn't like being alone and hope he will find a very loving home where someone will be home most of the time. Homes Fur Hounds, Inc.'s Adoption Policy

1. Once you have identified the dog(s) you are interested in meeting, you must submit an Adoption Application. You can find the application at https://www.homesfurhounds.org 2. Be patient. We occasionally have a high volume of applications, especially on puppies. 3. If your application is approved you will be contacted to arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in meeting. Whenever we have more than one applicant who is approved, we set up the meet and greet in the order in which the applications were received. 4. We are a small rescue group and do require home checks. Therefore, we only adopt to VA, NC and MD. Exceptions are made for medically needy or seniors if no qualified applicant is located in our adoption area. 5. We do keep applications on file for 6 months, so even if you aren’t selected for a particular dog, if you see another dog of interest, let us know and we will consider your application at that time. 6. Please don’t be offended if you are not selected to adopt. We try to match the dog with the BEST home for them. Just because you weren’t selected for a specific dog does not mean you can’t apply for another one. 7. Our adoption fee is $300.00.
