Meet Ember

Meet Ember - the cutest mini lab around! This one is special and is on the hunt for a forever family to match.

Ember came from an outside hoarding situation with little to no human contact. She was surrendered to the shelter with her two puppies, swarming with fleas, and missing a lot of her hair. She was absolutely frozen in fear. We crossed our fingers and took a chance. Her puppies have found their forever homes and with time and patience, Ember has opened up and blossomed in her foster home. Now it’s her turn to find her people.

Ember is a little over one-year-old, 45 pounds, and best guess is a small lab mix with big round eyes, a shimmering, gorgeous coat, and speckled chest. She is now caught up on all of her vetting, is microchipped, spayed, has completed all of her heartworm treatment, and is just waiting on that final negative test result. She is potty trained/pad trained but is nervous with the kennel so she hangs out in the living room in her foster home. She will need some more leash training, loves the couch, her dog bed, other dog friends, and dog toys.

We aren’t looking for a quick fit, but the perfect fit for this deserving girl. Her ideal family will be patient with her timidness, have at least one other dog, and no small children. She is a flight risk until she feels safe so a secure yard and AirTag is a requirement. Whether it’s hours or days before she opens up, there is nothing better than having earned that big smile, a nose boop, and pawing for pets from this sweet girl. She is worth every minute of patience and she will be so grateful and adore you for the rest of her life once she decides you are hers.

Think you might be the perfect fit for sweet Ember? Get your app in today and bring home this very special Momma.

If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting, the first step is to please visit our website to complete an application and read all of our FAQs: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/adopt

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, question, or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. Please see our website for more information.

2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals:
Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250

*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!
