Elsie's Story
Elsie is a beautiful 3-year-old Great Pyrenees/Great Dane mix who is looking for something she desperately needs: stability, patience, and someone willing to show her that she is safe.

Elsie is shy and understandably unsure of people right now. She was recently rehomed because of her owner’s health and, heartbreakingly, has been through multiple homes in just one month. That is a lot of change for any dog, and Elsie has understandably lost some of her trust in humans.

She is going to need a family who understands that trust isn’t built overnight. Her new family will need to give her time to decompress, learn her routine, and slowly build a relationship with her. Once she realizes she is safe, we hope to see the sweet girl underneath all that uncertainty shine through.

Elsie is still awaiting some final vaccines and her spay surgery before she can officially go home, but that doesn’t mean she has to wait to start meeting her people! We would love for potential adopters to spend time with her, give her positive experiences, and help her learn that she doesn’t need to be scared of people. The more patient, kind interactions she has, the more opportunities she has to rebuild that trust.

Because of her fear, Elsie will need some work on leash manners. She has been around children and seems to do well, but because of her size, older children would be the best fit.

We don’t yet know how Elsie feels about other dogs, so any introductions will need to be slow and thoughtful. Her experience with cats is also unknown.

Elsie doesn’t need someone looking for the perfect dog on day one. She needs someone willing to love her through the adjustment period. Someone who
