Elephant (Foster to Adopt)

He is part of our amazing Safari Litter! This litter is from California and all mutt. DNA said they are German Shepherd / Great Pyrenees / Bully and more. Even with all those breeds, his final size estimate is between 50-60# when fully grown. He's currently just about 24# at 18 weeks. They were born about March 3rd. Eli - is delightful. He's a sweet, gentle boy. He gets along with all the resident foster dogs and cats. He'd be great in any family. In typical GSD fashion, his ears are playing up down games. It's super cute! And like a typical GSD he can be an alert barker, but is getting corrected in his foster home. <br/><br/>This litter had a RUFF start. They were rescued from basically a dump. When a littermate broke with Parvo a week after we rescued them, they all got the Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody treatment and stopped the disease in its' tracks, Eli never got sick. Yay! Their vet visit and 4DX test prior to transport shared they have a tick borne illness called Erlichia. They have completed their treatment with antibiotics and never showed symptoms. <br/><br/>Because of likely the lack of proper nutrition, Eli has been tentatively diagnosed with an puppy issue called Metaphyseal Osteopathy (Hypertrophic<br/>Osteodystrophy). MO / HOD is a painful inflammatory bone condition that affects rapidly growing puppies, especially large and giant breeds. German<br/>Shepherd puppies are one of the breeds commonly affected. The condition usually develops between 2 and 8 months of age. German Shepherds may<br/>occasionally experience recurrent episodes.<br/><br/>The condition affects the metaphysis, the growth area near the ends of long bones such as the radius, ulna, and tibia. Inflammation develops in these areas, causing pain and lameness. The exact cause is unknown. Eli has had multiple x-rays and was started on Carprofen to target the pain and inflammation - it worked great. In his new foster home, he again had an episode and was again started on Carprofen. Within a couple days, he was back to his happy self. Because we want to keep him under our Veterinary Umbrella, we would love to find a forever home in Snohomish County that would allow us to cover any veterinary bills, lab work and medication refills. <br/><br/>Most puppies recover completely once they finish growing!<br/><br/>This puppy is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated, including rabies.<br/><br/>Puppies are good with dogs, cats, kids and more. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! They will cry in their crate, might need a potty break in the middle of the night. They will pee and poop in your house - your fault ;) - and will chew on your shoes, your childrens toys and maybe even the furniture. But... once transitioned into your home, will be life long companions!<br/><br/>Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. <br/><br/>Adoptions take place in Snohomish County - depending on foster home. <br/>Adoption fee is $525. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. <br/><br/>Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sundays to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.<br/><br/>Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We dont ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your dog.
