Save-A-Mutt is dedicated to creating awareness about the number of adoptable dogs in shelters and find every dog its forever home!
We do this by raising funds to A) cover the costs of transporting litters of puppies from high kill shelters to spay/neuter and adopt out; B) Focus on the welfare and final placement of Senior Dogs dumped at area shelters, and C) assist and support local rescue groups.
In addition, we hold a firm belief that Puppies are not Products; and hope to stop the sale of puppies and kittens in Washington State pet stores.
***If you are filling out the contact form regarding adopting a pet from us - please visit our website at www.save-a-mutt.org (under the Adopt tab). We do not do meet and greets prior to an application being approved! Because of the close relationship with our adopters, we do not adopt south of Portland OR, or north of Vancouver, Canada(about 300 miles from Stanwood WA). Thank you for your understanding.***
Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly.
We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient.
Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch!
Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
