Eleanor Louise Border Collie & Cattle Dog Mix Manhattan, KS

Eleanor Louise is 10 yr old border collie who was born in May of 2010. She goes by "Ellie." Our daughter spent many years training and showing her as a 4-H agility dog. Ellie will respond to many commands; come, stay, lay down, sit, go on, let's go, leave it, kennel, go outside, where is your bone, get your ball. She has spent her life as an indoor dog, spending part of her day outside under her favorite tree in a fenced in yard. She shares our home with a kitty, however loves to herd her and they sometimes do not get along well. She does well with children and might get along with another dog however has not ever lived with another dog. She does not like car rides or storms. During car rides she barks and during storms she just wants to lay near you, no barking or messes. She does not get on furniture and does not jump on people.
Around age 7, she tore a ligament in her knee. It was repaired however she has to be careful with it. She gets around just fine.
Ellie will explode before she messes in the house. When she has messed in the house it has been because she was fed table scraps and her system could not deal with it and we were away at work and could not let her outside.
She is still active and fun. She loves to play "catch," however she is older so loves someone to play gently with her. Ellie loves her belly rubbed and she loves to be told "she is pretty." She has had regular yearly vet care with all of her shots and is groomed at least twice a year.
Ellie makes a wonderful, calm companion and spends much of her day lying near us being great company. She is a calm presence in our home and loves her family.
