Dusty's Story

Meet Dusty, a 9-year-old, 14-pound Shih Tzu who has apparently decided that being 9 is no reason to act his age! Dusty came into rescue as a local owner surrender. His owner had him since he was a puppy and cared for him throughout his life

Dusty is a happy, social little guy who absolutely loves his people. When his foster family comes home, Dusty is an enthusiastic greeter who is very excited to see them. In fact, he is so excited that he has become quite talented at jumping up to say hello!

He also happens to be a serious walker. Dusty loves his hour-long morning walk, and his walking partner says he spends the entire time prancing along. He enjoys getting out and exploring, but his favorite part is doing it with his people.
When he's not out walking, Dusty loves to play. He will grab his squeaky toy and bring it to his people, ready for someone to throw it. He even enjoys competing with his foster sister in races for the toy. Once playtime is over and his person sits on the couch, Dusty is perfectly happy to become a couch potato right alongside them until they get up again.

Dusty is very social and loves people, including children. He also does well with other dogs and is used to living with another dog.

Dusty is housetrained and doing very well. At his foster home, he is never kenneled and is free to roam the house. At night, he usually sleeps at the foot of the bed, every now and then he decides it's time for a cuddle and moves in closer.
Dusty really just wants to be where his people are. He is playful, affectionate, social, loves walks, loves toys, loves attention, and is perfectly happy to settle in beside you when the day's adventures are over.

Dusty is looking for a family who will be active with him, include him in their daily life, and give him plenty of opportunities for walks, playtime, cuddles, and couch potato duty.

Dusty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, microchipped, and just had a dental.

If you’d like to meet Dusty, please fill out an adoption application at www.furfunrescue.org.

If you have questions about Dusty you can email rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.

Adopters must live within a two-hour radius of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Indoor homes only.
Adoption Fee: $400

Our dogs are all in foster homes. We require a completed application prior to meeting one of our dogs. The adoption application is on our website: furfunrescue.org. Once the application is received, we check the veterinarian reference if you have or have had pets. Then we contact you to set up a time to meet the dog. If, after meeting the dog you want to proceed with an adoption, we will run a background check, call personal references, and do a home visit. We always introduce our dog to any current pets. The final step is completing the adoption contract.
