Duchess Mixed Breed Toronto, ON

Duchess was found stray in the Hamilton area and animal services transferred her to us so that we could find her a forever home. She is a mixed breed dog and is estimated to be somewhere between 5 and 7 years old and weighs about 50lbs. She is a sweet, friendly girl that loves to be around people.

She knows her basic commands and walks well on leash. We recommend her new family do positive reinforcement training to help build a strong bond. She will make a wonderful companion dog for a family that likes to go for walks and explore.

We don’t know anything about her past so we are not recommending her for a home with young children or other pets, at least initially. And new introductions with people and pets should be slow and supervised.

She is now spayed, microchipped and is up to date on her basic vaccinations. She is suffering from gastrointestinal issues which we are investigating with our vets and will have more information to share prior to finalizing her adoption.

Her ideal home would:

- have a fenced yard so she can get out regularly
- no young children or other pets, at least initially
- a patient caring family that is willing to work through her health issues and give her all the love and attention she deserves.
