Dubu 's Story

Name: Dubu
Age: ~8 months (estimated)
Sex: Male (neutered)
Weight: 9.9 kg (22 lbs)
Energy Level: 3/5 (moderate)

More Videos and Pictures: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/opJUreo3gMfNE9mv7]

Dubu will travel to the U.S. as soon as a qualified family is found through our vetting process.

Apply today to be approved. After six months at the shelter and a brief foster stay, he is now back in a home foster environment where he is settling in well and learning family routines quickly. Dubu is settling into home life and consistently demonstrates rapid learning and strong bonding.

Personality
Dubu is a gentle, affectionate, people-focused puppy with a calm temperament. He displayed brief stranger shyness at first (mainly outdoors at night), but warms quickly—especially with treats—and has shown no guarding or aggression.

The foster notes he is very responsive: when called (“Dubu!”), He comes immediately. Dubu learned “sit” and “paw” in a single day, demonstrating his intelligence and eagerness to learn.

With Women
• Brief initial shyness when approached suddenly (mainly outdoors at night)
• Quickly warms with treats
• Accepts cuddling and kisses from the start
• People-focused; eagerly follows his caregiver

With Men
• Not overly forward with unfamiliar men, but not fearful or reactive
• Accepts petting and takes treats calmly
• Adjusted swiftly to the male caregiver in the foster home

With Other Animals
Dogs

Dubu is friendly and socially appropriate with other dogs, both indoors and outdoors.
• Lives peacefully indoors with a 5–6 kg small dog (they mostly coexist calmly)
• No resource guarding or growling, even if the other dog receives treats first
• No aggression observed with similarly sized dogs
• Outdoors, he tends to approach dogs to initiate play and has been seen playing well with other dogs

Cats
Dubu lives with a cat and coexists peacefully without aggression.

• In the home: peaceful co-living
• On walks: showed curiosity at first, then appeared startled when a cat hissed (no chasing)

Daily Life & Routine
Dubu currently lives with a young adult female primary caregiver and a male caregiver who visits several days a week. He shares the home with multiple dogs (including a 16 kg Jindo mix, a 9 kg mix, and a 5–6 kg mix) and a cat.

Typical routine at a foster home:
• Morning potty break around 8:00–8:15
• Daytime: naps and/or relaxed time around other dogs
• Evening: playground/park time for 30–40 minutes
• After 8:00 PM: snacks and quiet play
• Sleeps around midnight (free-feeding in the current setup)

Potty Training
Dubu has consistent potty habits and follows the current routine reliably.
• When taken outside, he often eliminates within 5 minutes
• Due to the caregiver’s work schedule, he uses a pee pad on the balcony during the daytime
• Current status: roughly 50% outdoor / 50% indoor pad (daytime)
• With an additional midday outing (or a committed plan), he is likely to transition to mostly outdoor potty training

Note: If only taken out twice a day, he may rely on indoor pads for one daytime potty.

Barking & Alone Time
• Foster reports they have not observed barking
• He has not truly been alone (there are other pets in the home)
• No separation-related distress has been observed when the caregiver leaves or takes other dogs out briefly

Destructive Behavior
Dubu is generally well-behaved at home.

One day, when he missed his evening outing and seemed frustrated/bored, he tore a cushion, and some stuffing came out. With adequate exercise and a consistent routine, destructive behavior has not been an issue.

Walking & Handling
• Enjoys walks and does not show high reactivity to people passing by
• May zig-zag a bit (typical puppy exploration), but does not show excessive pulling
• Bathing is easy: calm, no struggling
• Dryer sound can be a little scary, but he does well when his face is gently covered/comforted
• Crate: no strong resistance; will go in and out voluntarily even without formal training

Car Rides: Earlier notes suggested motion sickness (drooling) during a past transfer. In recent trips, he has traveled calmly without nausea—especially when placed comfortably on a cushion/towel. He has done well on 1-hour trips and regular shorter rides.

Diet & Treats
• Diet: Acana Free-Run Duck
• No observed allergies to chicken, beef, or duck treats
• Loves meat treats and chews (including goat horn)
• Uninterested in most fruits or vegetables

Ideal Home
Dubu will thrive with adopters who can provide a predictable routine and meet his moderate exercise needs.

Best fit:
• A home that can do three outings per day (or is comfortable supporting a transition plan from indoor pads to outdoor potty)
• Daily playtime (a 30-minute park/play session often helps him settle nicely)
• A home with another friendly dog is a plus, as he enjoys canine companionship
• Patient adopters who understand he is still young and developing

A thoughtful note from foster: Dubu is around 8 months old, so his adult temperament may continue to mature. He may stay playful and affectionate, or he may become calmer and more “independent” as he grows. The best match will be a family willing to learn from him over time and support him through normal adolescent changes.

Safety Requirements (Mandatory)

To ensure Dubu’s safety and well-being, our rescue requires all approved adopters to:
• Use a GPS tracker with an active subscription
• Provide year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention
• Review and follow our safety guidelines, including the use of required safety gear (escape-proof harness, double leash when needed)

These measures are non-negotiable and are part of our commitment to responsible, lifelong placements.
