Meet Dreamer

Dreamer is ready to share her story! ?

I went from having a family to having nothing. And then I went from having nothing to being in the shelter. Then I caught an upper respiratory infection that landed me on the euthanasia list. Then, I landed in a foster home before my life ended. You are probably confused. Let me help with that. My name is Dreamer and I am a 13-month-old female Great Pyrenees mix. Before I came into rescue I was a stray. Whatever home I had prior to faded away as I was scavenging for food and left to face the days and nights all alone. Then, I was picked up by animal control and landed in the shelter. After my stray hold, I was put up for adoption. I wasn't adopted quickly enough, though. I came down with a URI and since it is contagious I was put on the euthanasia list. Things were not looking good for me.

As you can probably guess, this is when my foster family came for me. Thanks to them this rescue was able to take me in. If I look familiar to you, I probably do. My sister Octavia was pulled before me and has already shared her story. While this rescue desperately wanted to take me when they pulled her, they had to make sure I had a safe place to go first. This is why foster families are SO IMPORTANT.

I have recovered from my URI and am now ready to find my forever family. My life has included a lot of change and hardship up until this point. I am now in a loving foster home and am focusing on my future. A future that will include me finding my forever family and being loved beyond measure! ♥

Before you jump into adopting me, be sure to read everything about me. Don't adopt me because I am pretty, adopt me because you know without a doubt that my personality would fit wonderfully within your family ?

-How can someone adopt me?
The first step is to fill out an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
Once this app comes in, it will get sent on to my foster family and they will help me decide if we are a match or not.

-Where are you being fostered? Would I need to pick you up? Can I adopt you even if I don't live in Oklahoma?
I am being fostered in Purcell, OK. Yes, you would need to pick me up. This rescue does not send us on transports. It is less stress on us that way. Plus, you and I can already start bonding on the road trip home! ?Yes, I am okay moving to a new state.

-Do I do well with strangers?
I love meeting new people! I am a bit of a social butterfly ;)

-Do you enjoy going places?
I haven't been to any. I needed to get over my cold first. Given how much I love people, I would probably do well as long as my new family eases me into it.

-Do you enjoy walks?
I do like going on walks. As far as leash training goes, it is a work in progress ;)

-Do you like road trips?
Yes, I do well in the car. I may be a bit nervous though.

-Can I trust you to free-roam the house, even if I am away?
I have pretty good house manners. So, while my fosters don't give me free-roam when they are away I believe that I would be fine. I would just need to feel at home and be adjusted first.

-Are you potty trained? What about kennel trained?
Yes to both. Not only am I kennel trained, but I am also potty trained.

-What do you like to do for fun?
Hmmm. I love playing with my toys, and I also enjoy playing with the other dogs. I seem uninterested in fetch and playing in the water.

-Would you do okay living in an apartment?
I would say yes. As long as my new family had a good exercise plan in place for me.

-Are you good with dogs? What about cats? Can I trust you with my kids?
I am good with other dogs. I am playful with some and indifferent to others. I am not being fostered around any cats or kids, so am unsure how I would do with them.

-Is there anything else that I need to know about you? Any quirks?
I can be protective over my food with the other dogs. Being out on your own and starving at times will do that to a girl. If my new family has other dogs, feeding time should be monitored. If they cannot watch, feeding me separately works as well. I have not shown any signs of recourse guarding. I do sometimes give hugs if I get really excited!

-Can I hear what your foster has to say about you?
"Dreamer is a great dog! She is most comfortable and happy when people are around. She can be rowdy and sometimes get overly excited when playing. She would probably love a fun, playful, even-tempered dog in her home. She will need time to decompress and learn to trust her people. No small children. She is a big, super lovable dog that is excited to find her forever home!"

Phew! That took longer than I thought! Hopefully, all your questions about me were answered though! Before you apply to adopt me I have a few last things that I would like to discuss!

~ I would love to have another dog around since I love to play. If I ended up as an only dog, that would be ok as long as plenty of toys are provided! I am young and active so a home with small children would probably not be the best combo.~

If you fit most of the above, then fill out that app and bring me home! Because I am ready! ?

*My adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
