Dozer (Neutered) (Photos September 26th 2026)

Dozer is a majestic 6-year old male Mastiff/Great Dane mix who was brought to the HSOV on September 26th 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on State Route 26 (just past the orchard) near Marietta Ohio in Washington County Ohio. Dozer was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

The Good Samaritan who found Dozer reported that this handsome boy was all by himself near the high-traffic country road, and he tried in vain to locate Dozer's owner before bringing him to the safety of our shelter. Dozer responded immediately to treats by sitting nicely and waiting for them to be handed to him.

Dozer has a beige and cream shorthaired coat, a long tail, and a beautiful face with characteristic Harlequin Great Dane markings, soulful brown eyes, a large muzzle, and large floppy ears.

Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver for escorting Dozer from the Good Samaritan's car into the shelter building .. and for spending time for Dozer so that we could take photos of this magnificent dog. Dozer has the sweetest disposition and, (much to Emily's delight), Dozer bestowed some kisses on Emily as thanks for being so kind to him.

Dozer had not yet stepped on the scales, but he is big fellow who surely weighs 100+ lbs. UPDATE 10/1/2026: Dozer weighed in at 174 lbs today!

Dozer has already been neutered and is a robust, healthy size so someone has taken good care of him.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Dozer will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

Note: Dozer's Stray Hold Has Been Extended to 14-Days Since HSOV is Trying to Make Contact with his Owner.

Dozer is available for adoption since there has been no contact with his owner.
