Doug is 60-pound lab mix, about 5 years old. He is very sweet and just loves to be around you. He is very calm and has the gentlest demeanor, his foster mom says he's an "old soul". He loves to cuddle beside you. He is still learning some of the basic commands, but is already house trained and crate trained at night.
Doug is extremely laid back and will be a low energy dog; he just needs a loving home! He would be great with a family with children or with other dogs. He gets nervous if he is left alone, so we would prefer to see him go to a home where he will be with another dog or with a family that will be present for most of the day.
Doug was rescued from the side of the road and was quite a bit underweight. He is slowly gaining healthy weight and we expect that he should be around 70 pounds when he fills out. Doug tested positive for heartworms but he has started treatment, and the expense is being covered by the rescue.
His foster mom says when he first joined them in their home, he did not know how to play with other dogs or with toys - but he is quickly learning! Now he has settled in nicely with their 3 dogs and is coming out of his shell. Doug really just needs a loving home that will help him continue to feel welcomed and loved.
Doug is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Our $250 adoption fee helps cover these expenses.
