Meet Dottie

5 puppies for adoption from the wonderful momma, Chelsea.  Born in the Shelter on August 27th, they were moved into foster care when just one week old.   Chelsea looks to be a yellow lab/hound mix, medium size, loving, sweet, smart, easy dog…since this is the only parent we know, coupled with the coloring and ears of the pups, we are thinking perhaps mixed with beagle.  Guesstimate based only on visual clues, only a dna kit can provide accurate breed mix.  But they are Pure-Adorable!  Cannot imagine a better family breed mix, the iconic lab and the easy-going beagle.  Easy keepers, people pleasers, uncomplicated, affectionate, and friendly.  Jump-in-the-car-and-go kinda dogs!  These are healthy, happy, solid puppies, their foster parents have done a beautiful job growing them; well-socialized, good parental and sibling interaction and have been started on paper training and outside potty…both efforts doing beautifully.  They have already learned NOT to mess in their bedclothes!  Puppies cannot leave their mother’s legally until 7 weeks of age and we like to give them an extra week with their siblings ensure good social behavior.  They may be pre-adopted, ready to go home with you on Oct 27th.

Bruiser - The biggest of the litter, is very independent and active.  He loves being outside.

Chance - The other rough and tumble boy in the litter.  Very playful and energetic, he loves toys!

Dottie - The biggest of the girls in the litter and the adventurer of the group.  She is always investigating new surrounding and curious about everything.

Audry - The shyest in the litter.  She is happy to just have you near her, very quiet and calm.

Rose - The spunky little runt of the litter.  She loves to be cuddled and held and could double as a teddy bear.

Puppy’s adoption fee is $300 which covers all vetting;  neutered/spayed, heartworm tested negative, up-to-date on all vaccines (3 distempers), plus rabies, wormed, deflead, and micro-chipped (Jessica Beath Clinic only) IF using one of our participating vets.  If you use your own vet, we will refund $50 for neuter/$75 for spay and surgery must be done by 6 months of age.  We would also require vet invoice as evidence of compliance.

If you are interested in meeting a pup, please fill out an adoption application at www.louisahumanesociety.com, click on the “paw” for Adoption Application.  Once submitted, the vet reference you provided will be contacted (if no vet, please provide 3 personal references, may be family and friends as long as they have a dog that you interact with) and then once approved, you will be contacted by the foster parent to discuss the animal and arrange the logistics for a visit.  Our rescue group does not have a brick and mortar facility, all our animals are home fostered in our volunteer’s houses.  You will be visiting a private residence.  The application does not oblige you to adopt, nor does the visitation; the application just gives us more info to help ensure a good match.

Our policy is that we always take our animals back should it prove to be a less than perfect match, or if you are unable or unwilling to care for the animal any longer.  We just don't want the animal to go back into the system.

Thank you for considering an unwanted and abandoned dog, and being part of the rescue efforts.
