He is active and playful and LOVES playing with other dogs. When he's not playing, he likes burrowing into his dog bed or a blanket for a nap.<br/><br/>Diesel is mostly house trained, and is getting used to his belly bands - he is quite clever and likes to rub himself on furniture to get "his pants" off of him.<br/><br/>We have learned that Diesel more of a project dog than we anticipated, he is pretty scared of new people and new situations. His default at this time is barking and lunging at new people to make them "go away" and for the most part that has worked for him (We tend to remove a dog from a situation where he's loud and unruly, without realizing that in his case, that is what he wants, so his behaviour has worked for him). We are working with our trainer to help him gain confidence and learn to trust his handler and let them make decisions whether a situation/person is safe or not.<br/><br/>Now, once you are in his circle - he can be bribed with treats - he is a Velcro sweetheart who wants attention and affection, but is also content to just hang out with you. He loves to cuddle as much as possible.<br/><br/>Diesel is looking for a handler with a lot of dog experience, another dog for him to play with and opportunities for excursions and training to boost his confidence. Older kids may be ok, no small kids for him, please. He tends to be vocal with new noises or people, so apartment living with lots of new people would not work for him. He would love to to have his own yard to play in with his doggy playmate. <br/><br/>Diesel is currently working with our trainer and will need to continue that for him to be successful.<br/><br/>***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***
