Diego joined Mattie's Place end of June. He has a DOB: April 27, 2026. Just a baby still. <br/><br/>At his 1st vet appointment, June 26th, he weighed in at 2.4 KG / 5 POUNDS. We are told he is a Boston Terrier / French Bulldog / Chihuahua mix. Wow! That's a lot of dog right there thanks to his Mom & Dad!<br/><br/>Diego will presumably land in the 20 pound range, but there's no absolute certainty with a puppy.<br/><br/>He has received his 1st round of vaccines and parasite prevention. He will receive his 2nd & 3rd at the cost of Mattie's Place in August & September at a Mattie's Place veterinarian that his adopter will need to take him to.<br/><br/>Diego did have a bit of eye discharge at his 1st vet appointment which cleared up with eye medication. Unfortunately, this will be deemed "pre-existing" for pet insurance purposes. He also had some soft stool, for 1 day, which is common for puppies, but could also be a rule-out.<br/><br/>He will receive his neuter in December 2026, on a non-negotiable adoption contract, at the cost of Mattie's Place at a Mattie's Place veterinarian, determined by the adopters location.<br/><br/>Diego is just a great little dog. He'll need an adopter home most often, as he's just a babe still and will need the guidance and structure having someone home with him in his most informative months of life can offer.<br/><br/>He is suitable for most lifestyles, but given his breed mix, he'll need an adopter that is more active than not. And an adopter with dog experience. He won't be suited to a 1st time dog owner. Not because he currently has any issues of concern, but he does have very confident and strong willed breeds in him that make up his DNA.<br/><br/>Diego will also need an adopter, willing to work with a professional trainer so he gets all the support he needs to ensure he doesn't grow up to be a problematic adult dog.<br/><br/>Diego is kid, dog & cat friendly but due to his very small size, he isn't likely suited to a home with very young children or very large dogs or cats.<br/><br/>Do you have what it takes to be Diego's person?<br/><br/><br/>FROM THE FOSTER:<br/><br/>Meet Diego!<br/><br/>At a Glance:<br/><br/><br/>Good with: all! Settles immediately after. May wake up at 6ish but happy to cuddle in bed with you until you're ready to get up. <br/><br/>Diego's Story:<br/><br/>Hi, I am Diego! I am little but my heart is huge. I am a young pup with a ton of love to give, plenty of energy to burn, a sharp mind, and a major appetite for snuggles. As they say "Go Diego Go."<br/><br/>I have been thriving in my foster home, which is full of kids, activity, noise, a great big dog, and a cat. I am a quiet, polite boy and I generally only whimper when I need to pee or cry in the crate when I've had enough. I will shiver when I'm a bit nervous or unsure. But for a little dude, I'm pretty brave, and love to try new things. <br/><br/>I'm doing ok with crate training; I sleep in my crate at night, hang out there when I need quiet time, and when my people go out. Im definitely a people person and I would rather not be alone too long. I love to burrow into laps, blankets, armpits, and cozy spots with you. <br/><br/>I love the outdoors. Chasing toys, exploring, digging in a sandbox. I can be frisky and fast and love burning off energy with games. I'd probably excel at the Mini Dog Olympics and am learning to jump over, around, and through things. My fosters have been using my puppy food as training rewards. I eat about a cup of puppy food 3x a day but I'll stop when I'm full. My stomach is tiny. <br/><br/>Im eager to please, and currently teething. I like toys that are small enough for my mouth to carry and things to chew. I'm generally non-destructive and not nippy as some puppies can be. If I ever forget and get over excited, a quick redirection to a chew toy does the trick. <br/><br/>I'm also making great progress with my potty training but I sometimes sneak a wee pee if you're not looking.
