Dennis's Story

Hi, I’m Dennis! I’m a 3-year-old, 15-pound Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix with a sweet little heart and a story that is finally starting to have a happy ending. I was rescued from a hoarding situation down South, where I never really got the chance to experience what life as a loved family dog should be like. Thankfully, those days are behind me and I’m now being fostered in Washington, Michigan. When I first arrived, I was a pretty timid little guy, unsure of the world around me and the people in it. But guess what? I’m really starting to come out of my shell! Every day, I’m getting a little braver, a little more comfortable and a little more willing to let my sweet personality shine through. It turns out there’s a pretty wonderful little dog hiding behind all that shyness!

I’m a gentle, easygoing boy who gets along well with other dogs, cats and people. I can still be a little shy when meeting someone new, but I’m learning that people can be kind, affection feels pretty good and there’s a whole lot of happiness waiting for me. My foster family is seeing more and more of the real Dennis every day and it’s such a wonderful thing to watch. I’m not quite the bold, outgoing type just yet, but I’m making progress and I have so much love to give. I WILL REQUIRE A FENCED YARD TO KEEP ME SAFE. I am fully trained on potty pads.

What I need now is a family who will celebrate my little victories, give me the patience to keep growing and love me for exactly who I am. I’ve already come such a long way and I can only imagine how much more I’ll blossom once I know I’m finally home for good. I’ll come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. I may have started my life without much love or security, but I’m making up for lost time. The best version of Dennis is just beginning to emerge and I would love for you to be part of the rest of my story!

If interested, please DO NOT submit an inquiry through Petfinder. Angie's Dog House's Adoption Policy
Our Adoption Process Our goal is to make the adoption process as smooth as possible while making sure each animal is matched with the right home 1. Submit an Application Complete our adoption application using the link at the bottom of each animal’s bio. Our team will review your application and if approved, someone from the rescue will reach out. PLEASE DO NOT FILL OUT AN INQUIRY ON PETFINDER 2. Home Video Once approved, we will ask you to submit a video walkthrough of your home and yard in lieu of an in-person home visit 3. Animals Already in Foster If the animal is currently in a foster home, the foster parent will contact you to answer questions, tell you more about the animal and arrange a meet and greet. Please bring a leash to the meet and greet. If everything goes well and you feel it is the right match, you may complete the adoption and take your new family member home that day 4. Direct Adoptions From Transport Some of our animals travel to Michigan specifically for direct adoption rather than going into a foster home. Because these animals are coming on transport specifically to meet their approved adopter, a direct adoption must be a firm commitment. Please ask any questions and make sure you are comfortable moving forward before committing to a transport animal 5. Finalizing the Adoption To complete the adoption, you will sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Once complete, your new family member is officially yours and can head home with you
