Deiter is a very active 4 year old Beagle who weighs about 23 pounds. He’s the complete package! He runs, he jumps, and he snuggles! He might do very well at agility training and competition. And he’s handsome!
Deiter needs a place to run outside, and to explore, and lots of exercise. If he’s not outside chasing squirrels and other critters, he’ll be on lookout, or at your side, or on your lap. At night, he will want to be in your bed with you, right up against you. For most of his life, he was a companion dog to a Vietnam Vet, so he wants to be close to his human, and he is used to having someone home with him all day.
He gets along very well with other dogs, but he’s never met a cat. Because of previous mistreatment by children, they scare him, and should be avoided. But he has met several dogs at his foster mom’s doggie daycare, and gets along with all of them. He loves to be on lookout with his buddy, keeping the house safe.
He is potty trained, and goes to the door when he wants to go outside, or gets your attention to alert you. But he has not had much other training. He may do well with “sit” and “stay,” but he needs to learn not to pull on the leash when you’re walking him outside. Training Beagles takes patience. Exercise is key.
Deiter is now taking a probiotic which helps his digestive system, and may reduce his monthly trips to the vet to have his anal glands expressed (and his nails clipped). The only other meds he takes is before he goes to the vet for those visits. Then, he gets medication to calm him.
Deiter is neutered, micro-chipped, intestinal parasite negative, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines and monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention. His adoption fee is $350.
