I'm Dakota, a 66-pound Pointer mix, and I'm looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. Right now, the shelter has me feeling very overwhelmed, and I spend a lot of my time pacing, watching the doors, and hoping for a place where I can finally relax. New people, new places, and all the unfamiliar sounds make it difficult for me to show who I really am. <br/><br/>I have yet to show any interested in treats, toys, or attention because my mind is focused on trying to feel safe. If we meet, please don't expect me to run into your arms or shower you with affection right away. What I need most is a patient, understanding family that will let me move at my own pace, respect my space, and allow our bond to grow naturally without pressure. <br/><br/>Beneath all of my anxiety is a sweet boy who's just waiting for the chance to blossom. As a Pointer mix, I'm an active, intelligent dog who will likely thrive once I'm comfortable, with plenty of mental enrichment, exercise, and opportunities to explore the world by your side.
