DAISY's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Daisy is 3 years old as of this past Feb. A wonderful dog. Very sweet nature. Interacts very well with people, curious to always walk over and say hi as we walk around the block of our neighborhood. She is not afraid or skittish. She loves children and adults alike. She is not spooked by fireworks, thunder, or loud noises. She is a very secure dog.

Daisy has completed several training classes, where she engages real time with many other people and other dogs. She is very well adjusted, and not reactionary. She has also been day-boarded and overnight boarded, and also does very well in those environments. She loves to play, and has a friendly nature. She listens well to the individuals running the daycare.

In years past she has shown there are very few smaller dogs which she asserts some dominance, but has never been overtly aggressive and could be due to being an adolescent. She also responds well to the other dogs in the community, and we have had two cats at home, and she responds very well to the two cats. She does bark from the house when she sees other people walking very close to our house. She is protective in that manner, but not when walking around the block.

Presently several times a day we tie Daisy out back using a 30 ft lead, as we do not have a fenced in back yard. Daisy also loves a 20-30 minute walk later in the day, no matter the weather. She loves to run. Whether in the snow, the beach, fields and mountains.

Daisy has excellent health profile. No immune system or gastric issues. Very robust digestive system. She loves a peanut butter and milk bone treat every morning, and we provide rawhide type bones several times a week.

Daisy loves to give big hugs, and loves to play. She even makes up her own games by throwing her stuffed animals to herself, and running around outside.

She is a lovely dog. Clean. Not smelly. She is not food-protective at all with humans, but with the house cats.

Her breed is 50/50 Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd. She would fit very well into a loving family who also love to interact with their dog as a family member, most likely OK even with another dog in the family. She loves to touch, and snuggle. At night she is comfortable sleeping on a modest dog bed at the foot of the human bed, or as allowed she is also fine being given free access the house, and she’ll find a place she likes to sleep wherever.

She is 100% potty trained. No accidents ever. She understands commands sit, stay, lay down, leave it (yucky stuff on the road), heel, and (especially if a treat is offered) come.

She can be trusted entirely when we leave, even for 4-6 hours at a time. But our routine is typically to not exceed that, except in rare cases. Where she actually has done fine. But for her comfort we like to ensure she can be let out on a fair schedule.

Daisy was adopted as a puppy from Barking Dog Farm Rescue. Sadly life can change quickly healthwise and her family have made the very difficult decision to rehome her.

Please visit our website for more pictures of this dog and info on our adoption process and application which is located on the left column under "forms & applications" :

https://barkdogfarm.rescuegroups.org

Before applying be sure you have thoroughly researched Great Pyrenees. They can be stubborn, prone to barking, overly protective and cannot be off leash. You WILL NOT train a pyr to boundaries.

Please be sure all family members are in agreement to adopting and your family is ready to bring dog home now.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex.

A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement and the animal has received its NH health certificate an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $450. for adults over 12 months, $550 for puppies 12 months and younger. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months.

Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment.

We show animals by appointment only. This is usually done meet outdoors so please dress accordingly.

Please email barkingdogfrm@gmail.com with any questions or to arrange a meet and greet.

3/31/26 3:43 PM

Barking Dog Farm Rescue's Adoption Policy
We do not follow a first come first serve basis but rather match the pet to the best possible home to meet it's needs and ensure the likelihood the pet will stay in that home for the duration of it's life. We have a lengthy application that helps us get info on potential adopters home and lifestyle as well as experience. If applicant appears to be a match we conduct a telephone interview. We call a landlord if applicable as well as vet and two personal references. A virtual home visit will be done ( hopeful to return to in person home visits ). Finally all family members come to meet the pet and if all are in agreement the adoption takes place including signing an adoption contract. We do give adopters two weeks to return pet for full refund if it doesn't seem to be working.
