Daisy's Story

Daisy entered into her foster home in December 2025 through their Veterinarian. Her previous owner was a homeless woman who had to surrender her for emergency care when Daisy was struck by a car, which caused ¼ lameness on her right front leg, but doesn’t slow her in the least. The vet contacted the foster family and asked them if they would give her a home and look for a permanent home for Daisy. The foster family is a very caring family with three dogs, a number of cats and ducks. Although Daisy loves the other dogs, she is not cat nor duck friendly.

When she first came to her foster she was shy and frightened, but has since warmed up and is now a goofy, playful, highly active and friendly girl. She can still be shy and frightened if meeting new people. We’re not sure how she would be around children since she has not been in that situation since she’s come to us. She needs stimulation and loves chew toys and stuffies. Daisy loves to be around other dogs and being outside. It would be ideal for her to have a dog companion and a place she can run at full speed. When indoors she’s mostly confined to the kitchen if no one is around. Although she has not shown any destructive behavior nor separation anxiety, it is important to be aware of her need for activity. She is house trained, but has had a few accidents so she needs frequent restroom visits. Daisy loves to eat and eats quickly, she isn’t food aggressive but if the other dogs come near while she’s eating she will growl and bark, although we can reach down and grab her bowl without issue.

Her ideal home would be one with other dogs and a large fenced area in which she could play with the other dogs. It is important that the fenced area be securely gated as Daisy does not have recall if she gets out, although when she is used to you, she eventually will come back.

Daisy weighs 37 pounds, is up to date on all vaccines and is on a monthly dose of Nexguard Plus.

Daisy will need time to adjust to a new person/family, but once she does she really comes out of her shell and makes an excellent companion. She will absolutely steal your heart.

Felix Dog Rescue Inc.'s Adoption Policy
- We require an application and references which we check. - Prior to the COVID pandemic we made home checks. Today we use videos. - We interview all potential owners. - After selection and placement of the dog with a new family, we provide a two-week trial period during which we require daily reports and videos as to how the dog is integrating into the family. - If the integration has gone well, we then sign the adoption agreement and finalize the adoption. - If for any reason at any time a family cannot care for an adopted dog, we request that the dog be returned to us for placement with a new family.
