Cooper's Story
Meet Cooper, a low to medium energy, 5-year-old, 20-pound Yorkie mix. He is lovingly fostered in Picton, ON.

His previous family recently moved overseas and, heartbreakingly, werent able to take him with them. Now this gentle little guy is looking for someone who will love him for the rest of his days.

Cooper is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart. He loves being near his person and is happiest hanging out by your side, but he also has an admirable ability to settle himself and relax independently. He is housetrained and sleeps quietly through the night. He is not destructive at all, and is adjusting easily to his new routine. Cooper is crate trained. He does not need to be confined to a crate, but will wander in and out of it throughout the day if it is left open for him.

Although he doesnt demand much exercise, Cooper is a wonderful walking buddy. He is unfazed by bikes, strollers and people passing by. He generally walks right beside his person with a loose leash. A nice walk followed by plenty of naps sounds pretty perfect to him.

Cooper is currently sharing his foster home with other dogs and a cat. When meeting a new dog, he may bark a bit at first, but he settles quickly. He could happily be an only dog, but also seems to enjoy having a canine companion. He is calm and respectful around the resident cat.

Cooper can be a little hand-shy while he gets to know you, but it doesnt take him long to start to trust. One of his wonderful qualities is his ability to cope when something upsets him — rather than becoming overwhelmed, he can settle himself and move on.

And people? Cooper LOVES them. Hes already proving to be quite the little charmer, especially with the ladies! He would be very happy living in a suburban or small-town environment where he can enjoy walks, people-watching and plenty of time with his family. He is said to be good with kids.

He is generally not a noisy dog, but he does bark when someone comes to the door, so he may not be suitable for an apartment.

Cooper is proving to be an incredibly adaptable, affectionate and easygoing little companion.
