Cocoa's Story
Meet Cocoa A Little Survivor with a Big Heart

At just 16 months old and 23 pounds, Cocoa may be petite, but she's one of the bravest dogs you'll ever meet.

Cocoa came to us from Saint Lucia after spending the first eight months of her life confined to a dark box before finally being rescued and brought to safety. Understandably, she arrived in her foster home feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and unsure of the world around her. But in just two short weeks, this remarkable girl has already made incredible progress.

Today, Cocoa is discovering what it means to be loved. She adores playing with her foster dog siblings and would thrive in a home with another playful, confident dog to help show her the ropes. She's fully potty trained, sleeps soundly through the night without a crate, and walks beautifully on a leash.

Like any young dog, Cocoa still has plenty of puppy energy. She enjoys chewing and exploring, so she'll need continued guidance and redirection as she grows. Her favorite activities include zooming around the yard, snuggling up for cuddles, and showing off what we like to call her superhero powers: supersonic hearing, lightning-fast zoomies, and impressive leaps that seem to defy gravity!

While Cocoa has come a long way, she's still learning that the world is a safe place. She needs a patient, understanding family that recognizes trust takes time and that healing isn't always a straight line. A fenced yard is strongly preferred, and she should not be trusted off leash for the foreseeable future. Because she thrives on companionship, Cocoa would do best in a home where she won't be left alone for long periods and where her family has experience with rescue dogs or understands canine anxiety.

The family lucky enough to earn Cocoa's trust will be rewarded with a loyal, affectionate companion who is learning every day that life can be filled with love, play, and belly rubs.

Female
16 months old
23 pounds
Potty trained
Sleeps through the night
Good with other dogs
Walks well on leash
Loves cuddles and playtime
Looking for a patient family committed to helping her continue to blossom

Cocoa's past may be heartbreaking, but her future is bright. She just needs someone willing to believe in her.
