COCO-ARKANSAS's Story

*PETFINDER INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AFTER READING HIS FULL ADOPTION LISTING. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

*PLEASE CLICK "Show more" below to continue reading about Coco.

Meet Cute Coco a 10 month-old 48 lb. female Poodle/Bloodhound mix puppy, who is in an IDOG foster home in Magnolia, Arkansas.

FAST FACTS ABOUT COCO:

*AGE: approximately 10 months old (born August 2025)

*WEIGHT: 48 lbs. We think he adult weight my be 55-60 lbs. She is a gangly teenager right now.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are recommended. Coco loves the freedom that she has to run around as much as she wants in the fosters fenced back yard. Her recall isn't great yet so we think she does need a fenced yard for her future success. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success.

*COAT TYPE: Soft curly/wavy coat that sheds a bit. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting and have her groomed every 3 months or so.

*ENERGY LEVEL: High puppy energy. She is still a puppy even though she looks full grown and will require obedience training, continued socialization, lots of mental stimulation and daily exercise. She does jump when she's excited/you're just returning home. Once she gets her exercise in, she is done and ready to chill!

*DOGS: Yes! She has loved all dogs she has been around. She does have puppy energy so if there is another dog in her forever home they should be OK with a puppy. We think she would do well with a confident dog in her forever home to show her the ropes.

*CATS: Unknown. She has had no exposure to cats in her foster home.

*KIDS: Yes! She will be fine around older kids; she could accidentally knock down little kids as she has no concept of her size.

*CAR: She does well in the car!

*CRATE: : We are crating Coco in the afternoon while everyone is at work and she is doing fine. She goes right in willingly, lays down and is good until we get back home which is 2-4 hours. She is a puppy and cant yet be trusted to free roam when no one is home. She will get into something she shouldn't if left to her own devices.

*HOUSE TRAINED: We are working on it! She was tied out alone 24/7 in her last home so is going to take a bit more time to figure out how to potty outside only. Her new family will need to continue being diligent in taking her out regularly until she matures some.

*LEASH: She needs continued leash training but loves going for walks; she pulls some if she gets overly excited.

*WITH GROOMING: She loves to be brushed and will just sit still while you brush her.

*AT VET: Coco was unsure at the vet and froze completely when they put her on the examination table. She was fine with everyone handling her.

*VETTING: Coco is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and almost house-trained. She is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

MORE ABOUT COCO:

Coco is 10 month old female Poodle/Bloodhound mix puppy who currently weighs 48 lbs. She was surrendered to IDOG by her family. She was kept tied up outside 24/7 and we are happy that we could help her find her forever family where she is an inside dog and gets all the love and attention and exercise she deserves.

Coco is the best cuddler!!! She will lay on the couch right beside you and not move until you do! She is learning to not jump on people, but it's a struggle for her. She just gets so excited, that she just can't restrain herself. She loves to go on walks and we have been working on leash training. But if she sees something that looks really interesting, you better hold on! Coco will sleep all night in her bed in our bedroom and not make a peep until around 7:30 am.

Coco is still very much a puppy and needs some stimulation. But once she is done, she is done and ready to just chill.

She will need some obedience training, She is a really good dog and needs a good family and a yard to frolic in. She is such a goofy, fun and lovable girl and needs a family willing to put in the work for her to reach her potential of being the best girl ever!

Coco is about 48 pounds right now, but as she matures she should weigh up towards 55 to 60 pounds. Right now she is a gangly teenager. She takes correction really well and listens when you tell her no. She is very submissive and will roll over if she thinks she is in trouble. Coco loves being with her people, but she is not a Velcro dog. She will happily lay in the family room and chew on a bone all by herself.

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
Coco needs an active home. She will be a great dog for someone with older kids that she can't accidentally knock down. She loves to play with my larger Goldendoodle, so she would probably love to have another dog in the home.

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Adjectives that describe Coco:
*Gentle
*Energetic
*Sweet
*Playful
*Confident
*Snuggly
*Submissive
*Affectionate
*Cuddly

Activities she enjoys:
-walking
-hiking
-running
-chew toys
-squeaky toys
-cuddling
-meeting new people
-playing with other dogs

A few needs work items for Coco:
*obedience commands
*continued work on house training; she is almost there!
*she is a puppy and will want to chew things she shouldn't. She will need her new house puppy-proofed until she grows out of this phase.

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Cocos listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Coco, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Coco, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Coco. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of her adoption at www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Coco before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $450

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR COCO-ARKANSAS, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
