Claudia was surrender to animal control by her owner because of not meeting city ordinance requirements. This turned out to be a lucky break for this dog. A neighbor came in and recognized the dog, then related that the prior owner kept her in an outside pen and often went into the pen with the dog and beat her, especially around the head. This is why she is fearful of people when kenneled, fearing she will be beaten again. It was discovered that Claudia becomes very frightened when a person approaches the kennel door and tries to get her out. Claudia needs a special home with a special person who can be patient and loving, gaining her trust until she realizes most people are good and would not hit her. It is a challenge but this beautiful girl is worth the effort. She loves other dogs and is very playful with people in open spaces. She can be a little strong on walks but gentle, friendly and sweet also responsive to commands. Her interactions with other dogs she might try to physically assert herself, not in an aggressive way, but in an assertive way. This could be a subtle sign of guarding or possessing. Born about 7/1/11
