Chunk's Story

Name: Chunk
Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Sex: Neutered Male
Age/Weight: 1 year & 9 months, 62lbs

Personality
Meet Chunk, an absolute unit of a dog with a personality just as big as his head! Aptly named, this chunky chunkster is short, stocky, and muscular, and he's pretty proud of it. Chunk is a happy, energetic boy who loves meeting people, getting attention, and soaking up all the butt rubs he can get. He's bursting with enthusiasm and always excited to see you! This guy is curious and playful, so we could see him enjoying a life of adventure and new experiences.

Behavior
Chunk is house-trained and one of the cleanest dogs at the shelter. He keeps his kennel tidy, never makes a mess in his bedding, and doesn't tear up his toys. He's an easy boy to care for and enjoys going for walks, although he is strong on the leash. Chunk can also get jumpy when he's excited, so he'll benefit from some basic training to help him keep all four paws on the ground when greeting people.

Like many energetic dogs, Chunk has a lot of pent-up energy from kennel life, and we suspect he'll settle in and mellow out once he has more room to stretch his legs and a routine outside the shelter. He's shown interest in other dogs, so if you have a canine companion at home, we'd recommend a meet-and-greet to see how they get along. Because Chunk is strong and jumpy, a home with older children is recommended.

History & Health
Chunk's story started on a dangerously hot summer day when he was found overheating inside a car. An officer was able to get him out and cool him down before he suffered heatstroke. He's been with us ever since, waiting for his chance to find a family of his own.

Thankfully, Chunk is doing great and has no known health concerns! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his vaccinations. He's got the good looks, the big personality, and the clean-house habits to make a wonderful companion. Now all this big boy needs is someone to give him a home!

*We are unable to view pet Finder inquiries at this time.
