Chip's Story

LOCATION: Purcelville, VA

POSITION SOUGHT: Professional Fetch Partner & Full-Time BFF.

CANDIDATE: Chip (Young, Athletic, Shy, and Silly).

THE RESUME:
Hi, my name is Chip! I am practically a pro athlete when it comes to fetch. While my "hand-delivery" skills are still in development, my dedication is unmatched. If you're too busy to throw the ball, no problem-I'll just drop toys down the stairs and play a solo game!

THE PERSONALITY:
I'm a bit of a "slow burn" when meeting new people and pups. I need a patient leader who respects my space while I muster up my courage. It might take a few introductions before I'm ready to commit, but once we're bonded? We are BFFs for life.

IDEAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Quiet & Private: A fenced yard is my happy place. I'm a homebody by nature, and while I'm learning to love "The Walk," I prefer quiet hikes or strolls over busy city streets.

The "Mentor" System: Dog parks aren't my scene, but I'd love a confident canine sibling! Having a role model to show me that people are safe and walks are fun makes all the difference.

Respectful Roommates: I love kids, but I'd do best with older ones who understand my boundaries. I give great hugs and "couch cuddles," but sometimes a guy just needs a little personal space.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Genius Level Intellect: I'm potty trained and can ring bells to go out! I'm also currently studying the mystery of "Door Knobs"-I'm 90% sure they are the key to the outside world.

Expert Napper: I'm a crate-training champ at night and a gold-medal sleeper during the day (as long as I've had my morning workout).

Resource Management: I'm happy to share my toys, but if you give me a high-value treat (like a bully stick), I'll take it to my "private office" until I'm finished.

I might look like a scaredy-cat at first, but I'm just looking for the right person to help me become the ultimate co-pilot.

Apply to meet me today!

Operation Paws for Homes's Adoption Policy
Our organization provides pet adoption services to families located in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. We believe in responsible adoptions and strive to work with each adopter to find a good match for their home and lifestyle. Our adoption process includes completion of an application, a vet check, an interview, and a personal “meet and greet” where the family can meet and interact with their potential new four-legged family member. Throughout this process, we work to ensure each family and dog are the right fit for each other. We are fortunate to have some wonderful and active volunteers who help OPH find forever homes for over 1,000 dogs and cats a year. The key to that statement is - volunteer! Please remember that our organization is driven by caring individuals who give their personal time to help rescue these animals and provide them with the opportunity to find an amazing future! In addition to adoptions, volunteers carry out education and outreach events throughout the area, and conduct donation drives for our partner shelters in the south. Our goal is to offer a second chance to dogs and cats abandoned in shelters and out of time. Sadly, without our help, some of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - sometimes within days of arriving at the shelter. Each year we rescue hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats. We work hard to unite them with forever families who will give them the life and love they deserve. These animals are saved only because of the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors, and volunteers.
