Meet Gorgeous Chewie!<br/><br/>Sometimes loving a dog means recognizing they need something different than what you can provide.<br/><br/>That's how Chewie found his way to KITM. <br/><br/>We were actually contacted in March 2024 by a wonderful human who took in a stray Anatolian Shepherd who had given birth on December 28th to the most beautiful puppies ever. We took in 4 of the 9 puppies (They found homes immediately, of course!) as his foster had already found homes for the other puppies on her own. One of those sweet pups was Chewie. <br/><br/>At a year and some change old, Chewie may look like a Golden but he is a <br/>114 pound Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix, with the stubbornness to prove it! He's been raised with so much love, knows what it means to be part of a family, and is now looking for a home where he can truly thrive.<br/><br/>Like many guardian breeds, Chewie prefers calm energy and thoughtful introductions. Because of his resource-guarding tendencies and his size and strength, he is not a fit for homes with small children or small dogs. (His current home has a chihuahua, and it's just not a great fit). He will do best with a confident handler who understands large breeds and can continue setting him up for success!<br/><br/>Now let's get to all the good stuff! Because at the end of the day, Chewie is actually the biggest lover who just wants to snuggle up to you when hanging out inside. He loves playing with his toys, and romping around the house. He LOVES the outdoors and would be happiest with room to roam, some cool weather, long walks, adventures, and an adopter who wants a loyal sidekick. He's the kind of dog who wants to be a part of whatever you're doing, whether thats exploring a trail or relaxing in the backyard!<br/><br/>Chewie LOVES snow and water!
