Meet CHARLIE!

MEET CHARLIE!

The time has come for our beloved Charlie to find his forever home! For those of you who don't already know his story, please read on!

Charlie is around 5-7 years old and was found tethered to a dumpster and laying in a pile of trash in West Philadelphia with terrible facial wounds (read more at: https://goo.gl/SSkASv). He was rushed to our vet by his rescuers and spent the next few months recovering from his past, which included being hospitalized and needing to have necrotic tissue removed and special dressings to help promote the healing of his wounds. Charlie has made a miraculous recovery thanks to his doctors. While he may not look like your typical dog, Charlie has no limitations or special needs resulting from his recovery though he is a bit of a messy drinker and sometimes drools a little as a result of his constant smile.

We're not entirely sure what Charlie's past looks like. We don't think that Charlie was intentionally used for dog fighting, but we do believe he was involved in a fight with another dog and the injuries that resulted were left ignored and untreated for some time before he was abandoned. Luckily, Charlie is not focused on his past and neither are we! He's ready to spread his wings and live his best life with a family that cherishes him.

More on Charlie's personality and needs... Charlie is quick to make friends with everyone he meets. A bit of a goofball, his butt seems to never stop wiggling and he'll keep you laughing! He's a true gentleman and is currently living in a foster home with children with whom he adores. Charlie is a sensitive boy who seems to pick up emotion well. He responds to stress and change like any other dog might. He doesn't love his crate and will sometimes go to the bathroom in it when stressed, likely as a result from being hospitalized for months while recovering. He will need continued work on crate training if his future family decides to use a crate. He is otherwise housebroken and loves to spend his time curled up in your lap or on his dog bed. He is quick to sneak himself into your lap and will lean against you for pets, back rubs, etc. How could you possibly say no?

Charlie is currently living with another dog and generally gets along with him, but gets overstimulated when his canine brother gets excited and will over-correct him which has resulted in scuffles. We believe this is likely how Charlie received his facial injuries and that he should remain the only dog in his future home. Charlie enjoys meeting other dogs on walks, but is pushy and a little rude when meeting them so they don't always love him so he is not the "dog park" type of dog. We have not seen Charlie interact with cats. While Charlie should be an only pet, the amount of love and laughs he will provide his future family will more than make up for it!

Charlie is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. Interested in adopting him? Visit www.cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!
