When she first arrived in foster care, she was the picture of a typical breeder-release dogterrified of people, unfamiliar with affection, and unsure how to navigate life outside of a kennel.

On her first day, Chanel huddled in the corner of her crate, trying to disappear into the walls. Every sound startled her. Being picked up was so frightening that she would urinate from fear. It was heartbreaking to see how little comfort and security she had ever known.

But Chanel's story is changing.

With patience, space, kindness, and the guidance of her foster family's dog, Chanel has made incredible progress. Every day she becomes a little braver and a little more confident.

Today, Chanel enjoys the company of children, cats, and other dogs. She absolutely loves playing with her canine foster sibling and has even started showing off her playful terrier personality! She walks beautifully on a leash, stopping to sniff the grass, flowers, and fresh air that are all so new to her. She gets excited when she sees people and dogs on walks and wants to say hello.

Chanel has also discovered some of life's greatest joys, treats! She eagerly waits for apples and strawberries whenever the cutting board comes out and happily accepts all kinds of tasty snacks. She has even found her voice and makes sure everyone knows when it's mealtime.

When she's not exploring or looking for treats, Chanel enjoys lounging on a comfy dog bed and quietly observing the world around her. She continues to grow more comfortable with her family, choosing to rest closer and closer to them each day. Sometimes she'll even run up to her people outside until she realizes she's been caught being affectionate!

Chanel is not yet potty trained and will need continued guidance and patience as she adjusts to life as a cherished family member.

She would thrive in a calm home with patient adopters who understand the journey of a breeder-release dog. A resident dog would be a wonderful source of comfort and confidence for her. Most importantly, Chanel needs a family willing to celebrate the small victories and continue helping her blossom.

The transformation she has already made is remarkable, and the best is still yet to come.

Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes
Potty trained: Not yet

For the most up-to-date information, photos, and videos, please visit Chanel's foster blog:
https://fosteringchanel.blogspot.com/

Please read our Breeder Release article on our Resources page prior to applying.

ADOPTION FEE: $550

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age.
